London fashion week!! (LCF MA show)

I was recently invited to watch the MA show for London fashion week, at the Royal Opera house in Covent Gardens which was an absolute honour, so I couldn't attend there without blogging right? Anyway it was such an experience the hours work and thought put into the collections was truly inspirational, I was specifically drawn to a section of the menswear collection featuring a lot of graphic pattern and different fabrics which inspired me for my 'Chikaku' T-shirts. One of my fav outfits of the show was a loose jumpsuit which resembled a classy onesie it just looked comfortable to wear but still made a statement

Whilst watching the show I noticed quite a few familiar faces some of them being the famous girl group Stooshe! Who i managed to get a snap with, I must say they we're looking amazing, I also spotted VVBrown but didn't manage to get a picture with her as she seemed pretty occupied with some 'very important people' ah well :) Overall I had an amazing time the catwalk was my favourite part as I was completely drawn to it through out the whole show

P.s. keep a look out for my post on all the outfits I snapped that day xoxoxo

KSL artists wearing my Chikaku Tee's in there new video!!!

I was honestly flattered when i heard KSL music's artist Wisdom saw my bandanna tee's and wanted to wear it in his video shoot, I went Along with the team to watch the video being filmed and directed by 'El legendary TK' it was a funny experience as most of the team came along. It was also the debut of KSL's newest artist Nadine Pereira who also wore my exclusive burgundy bandanna tee. And the video "Faded" is her first feature since being signed to KSL music. Take a look at the video by clicking the link below I've also added some pictures from behind the scenes at the video shoot :) xoxoxo

GRAMMY's who worked the red carpet !

Morning all, It was nice to see many well respected Celeb's attend the Grammys last night but I have to say that my highlight was definitely the red carpet! It's a chance for everyone to showcase themselves in beautiful gowns in silent competition with each over, and my gosh did they go all out this year, it was nice to see Justin back with that great performance he worked that red carpet. Apparently there was a memo sent out before the event with an apparent dress code not too show too much skin Rihanna definitely followed the rule, she wore an elegant red Alia gown which went well with Chris Browns all white Lanvin suit, whilst Beyonce's statement making pantsuit have us all a taster of bold futurism. Florence Welch wore a sequin green gown from Givenchy and my gosh did she wear it well! Jennifer Lopez definitely didn't abide by the rules wearing a one shouldered thigh high Anthony Vaccarello gown but she still had an element of class. However I have to say my favourite gown of the night was the Georges Chakra gown from his Spring couture 2013 range worn beautifully by Kelly Rowland! She definitely killed it!

EXCLUSIVE!! 'Chikaku' Bandanna Tee's

Many Celebrities of today are known to inspire us whether its Fashion, Music, or reality tv, we can all be inspired by what is put in front of us. I started to notice a trend with celebrities particularly a lot of rappers which was the bandanna print! I was specifically drawn into one of Kendrick Lamars T-shirts. I thought to myself why not bring this bandanna craze to normal people and give everyone the chance to enjoy this current trend and have the privilege of owning an exclusive 'Chikaku' T-shirt

Soo... I got to work, I went and bought some plain black Tee's and some bandanna's and came up with this design! At first it was just a trial for myself, but when the word got out everyone seemed to want one. They are now available for purchase at a very reasonable price!

Here are some pictures of @brandicoke wearing my design and I must say she rocks it very well!, For enquiries about purchasing a bandanna Tee contact me at jaydeyankey@gmail.com :)

Jaime Perlman's 'Antipodium' collection is now in stores!

Vogues creative director Jaime Perlman has worked together with Antipodium to create a collection based on the emoji emotions. It is known to be her first ever design project. The designs from this collection truly represent the dynamics that are put across in emoji style, it is clear that they were inspired by the shapes, colours and boldness of the emotions. When looking at the collection you can definitely see that each item has its individual striking personality. One of my favourite pieces from the collection has to be the green printed skater dress as it is eye catching and vibrant at first sight.

My intake on breaking into the fashion industry

Ever since I first decided I wanted to become a designer, people have told me how much competition I will have, and how hard it is to get into the industry. Well first of all it's everyone else that will have competition! as I have always believed in myself and was born with the desire to succeed.

From a young age I have done my research and asked secondary sources about the industry, then it suddenly dawned on me that the only way to get noticed is to get yourself out there! And showcase yourself as the person you aspire to be

So here are my tips on exactly how to do that;
- Search for different events to attend regarding fashion to build on your knowledge and to become familiar with different environments.
- Do your research and know your stuff, theres no use having talent in a field you know nothing about!
- Attend as many networking events as you can, as you never know what major links you could come into contact with, which would save you a lot of hassle in the future.
- Subscribe to at least 1 fashion magazine whether it be; Vogue, Elle, Dazed etc, just to keep your knowledge up with current trends.
- Whenever you have free time e.g. in summer breaks, try to get work placements within the industry, you can never have too much experience!
- And lastly be yourself and show innovation

Im not saying all of these things will 100% break you into the industry because that depends on you, and how determined you are as a person. But these tips will definitely gear you in the direction of it :)
